Dr Emile Coetzee
Colorectal Surgeon

Dr Coetzee obtained the degree MBCHB from the University of Pretoria and specialized in general surgery at the University of Cape Town.
He joined the Colorectal Surgical Unit and became the 3rd candidate in South Africa to complete a fellowship in colorectal surgery and surgical gastroenterology as specialist colorectal surgeon. Dr Coetzee then completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was appointed as a consultant in the Colorectal Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital where he established a dedicated Intestinal Failure Unit. After realizing the need for specialized colorectal surgery in the Eastern Cape, he relocated to Port Elizabeth in 2014.
His practice focusses specifically on Colorectal Surgery with a strong academic interest. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Cape Town and actively involved with surgical registrar training. Dr Coetzee is an examiner for the College of Surgeons and the President of the South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons.
Special interests include laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, intestinal failure and nutrition.
Candice Coetzee
Practice Manager
Candice Coetzee was born in Uitenhage and completed her schooling at Uitenhage High School. She continued her tertiary studies at Port Elizabeth Technicon(now part of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Universities) where she obtained her National Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography in 2005.
She started her career as a Diagnostic Radiographer at Frere Hospital in East London. She also worked at Tygerberg Hospital and Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town before entering into the private sector.
In 2010 she obtained her B.Tech degree in Diagnostic Radiography from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. While working as a radiographer, she continued her studies at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Business School, obtaining a Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration in 2015.
Sr Sanelle Botha
Stomatherapist
Sr Sanelle Botha was born in Port Elizabeth and completed her schooling at Framesby High School. She continued her tertiary studies at Sharley Cribb Nursing College where she obtained her Diploma in Nursing in 1994.
She started her career as a Registered Nurse at the Provincial Hospital in Port Elizabeth and was given the opportunity in 2000 to further her studies in Stomatherapy at Grootte Schuur and Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town.
She returned to the Provincial Hospital and managed the Stomatherapy Department until 2004. In 2005 she registered her own practice as a Private Nurse Practitioner and specializes in Stomatherapy and Wound Care.
Shereez Agnew
Administration
Shereez fulfills the role of Dr Emile Coetzee’s administrator. She matriculated at Chapman Senior High and thereafter completed administrative courses which led her into various medical environments.
Shereez was employed at Life Healthcare and has over 15 years medical administrative experience in a variety of roles, from patient admissions, theatre billing, accounts to being the Senior Administrative Clerk at Life Healthcare. She then joined the practice of Dr Emile Coetzee where she runs the front office.
